Concentration in meditation

The peacock must lose it feathers before it knows the truth. The yogi must lose his/her sense of special development before grace arrives. We think we have made some progress, but what is progress when the goal is infinite? True concentration comes when we are thinking about the guru of the universe in the most personal way - the most personal way that has been given to us. It has been written that we should merge/coincide with our goal. The loving truth of this is what brings to us true concentration, true surrender and true devotion.

A poem for you

The Other Side

The swan glides on the glassy pond
The morning mist moves with angle’s touch

The stone that touched the water’s edge
Was but an idol fashioned by foolish hands

The morning song echoes across the banks
As though a mother’s sigh with babe in arm

What spell was cast upon this time and space
That I forget to love everything?

Now the ferry has gone to the other shore
The misty shroud makes secret the course
Oh, if only my ears could hear the heart

As water ripples at water’s edge
I know that it is only you –
My Beautiful One,
Who will take me to the other side

You, the Great Swan
I saw on morning pond
